5th Grade in D3
Toni, I think it is a fantastic idea to teach the Pledge of Allegiance in sign language. It is something that they do everyday and after doing it for a year, will remember it for a very long time. I'm sure it will even inspire many of them to want to learn more signing. I don't think they are too young. I say go for it, and I'll check their memory when they get to 5th grade. I bet they'll remember it!
Great video. I like how it is clear enough and slow enough for kids and teachers to learn.
Once again, you have done a wonderful job with your blog. Posting this video is not only informative but your students might be motivated to practice at home with their parents. I love the other additions to your blogs as well, such as your music playlist. I have learned so much from your blog & will definitely refer to it often for ideas.
Toni - Great video. I am always intregued by sign language. It incorporates the movement piece that so many students need during routine activities that occur evey day in the classroom. It would be fun to teach it throughout the year and maybe perform it at an assembly of some kind in your building. Too bad Flag Day is during Summer School! P.S. - I still cannot get those tabs at the top of my blog to work - GRRR!!!
